4 Dead After Small Plane Crashes Into Scenic Tidal Waterway
The NTSB is examining why the Piper PA-24 went down in shallow water, where recovery crews removed the four victims after the tide receded.

- Troopers recovered the bodies at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after the tide receded, allowing crews to access the submerged wreckage. The victims' bodies were sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
- The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the fatal crash. The aircraft had been traveling from Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage to Seldovia before it went down in the water.
- Seldovia City Manager Heidi Geagel arrived at the scene shortly after the incident occurred. Officials confirmed the victims' next of kin have been identified and notified.
