- On Saturday, gunmen attacked a Nigeria Democratic Congress meeting in Ihuani Awkunanaw, Enugu State, injuring eight attendees and destroying canopies and party materials during the afternoon voter sensitisation gathering.
- This incident follows alleged attacks on PDP activities across Enugu State, including previous assaults on ward meetings in Akpugo Ward on August 16 and Obe Ward on August 29.
- Eight people sustained gunshot injuries, identified as Onovo Donald Ekene, Ngene Godwin Madueke, and six others. NDC candidate Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa charged "the entire NDC family in Enugu State to remain undeterred."
- Chief Basil Ani warned that unresolved political violence and perceived official indifference could damage President Bola Tinubu's popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
- "The President does not need to take sides in the Enugu political contest. He needs to take the side of democracy," Ani said, urging federal intervention to protect constitutional assembly rights.
