2026 World Cup draw: USMNT to face Paraguay, Australia
- On December 5, 2025, the United States men's national team was drawn into Group D with Paraguay, Australia, and the winner of UEFA Playoff C at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C.
- A record 64 nations participated in the draw to determine which 48 teams will take the tournament field, and FIFA will announce the full schedule at a separate live event on Saturday.
- The schedule notes the USMNT will open Group D on June 12 at SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California, against Paraguay, with matches in Seattle on June 19 and June 25.
- With top-two advancing, the USMNT has to like its chances, and coach Mauricio Pochettino said `We need to be optimistic` and `Believing that we can go through but we need to perform`.
- The USMNT will play either Türkiye, Romania, Slovakia or Kosovo and will not know which for almost three months as UEFA Playoff C matches run March 26, with winners meeting March 31.
