Suspect in Edmonton gurdwara stabbing was released from prison on Thursday
Two adult men were treated on scene after an apparent attack during early morning prayers, and police arrested a suspect.
A suspect in the stabbing at an Edmonton gurdwara was reportedly released from prison on Thursday, shortly before the attack, according to reports cited by CTV News.
The incident occurred at the Nanaksar Sikh Temple in Edmonton, where two men were injured after an intruder allegedly attacked them early Friday morning.
Police arrested one suspect and said the injured men were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while investigators continued to examine the circumstances and possible motive.
Community reports alleged that the attacker attempted to damage or desecrate the Sikh holy scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but police had not independently confirmed those details or determined whether the incident was hate-motivated.
