2 dead following plane crash at San Diego airport
Two people died in a Cessna 172 crash at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego on September 7 around 5:15 p.m. local time.
The aircraft's left wing dipped, causing it to stall and spin into the ground during a go-around maneuver, resulting in a post-impact fire.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded with over 30 personnel but could not extract the victims due to heavy damage and focused on extinguishing the fire.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation and sent an investigator to document the crash scene and recover the aircraft for further evaluation.
