IHC Sets May 7 Hearing for Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi Appeals in £190m Case
The court said the main appeals are already set for May 7 and ordered jail authorities to act on related access and visitation petitions.
- On Monday, the Islamabad High Court rejected suspension pleas filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the £190 million corruption case, scheduling their main appeals for May 7.
- An accountability court sentenced Imran and Bushra to 14 and seven years in prison, respectively, on January 17, 2025; both remain incarcerated at Rawalpilli's Adiala Jail while challenging their convictions.
- The court declared the suspension applications infructuous, noting that proceeding with main appeals remains the priority; Imran's sister, Aleema Khanum, urged party leaders to gather at Adiala Jail to demand "immediate access" for family and lawyers.
- Separately, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir directed the Adiala Jail superintendent to decide within two days on a petition seeking a personal physician for Bushra, summoning the superintendent to appear in person on May 6.
- A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar will take up the central appeals on May 7, while the court issued notice to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan regarding a petition to block Imran's X account.
