$170,000 in untaxed cigarettes seized on Thruway in Madison County

Troopers said Mohamed H. Alawdi, 30, was pulled over on the Thruway passing through Sullivan for a vehicle and traffic violation at about 10 p.m. March 13. Once stopped, troopers said they saw several boxes covered by blankets filling the back seat and cargo area of the 2021 Dodge Durango, and Alawdi gave permission for a search.
